nigel pottsspacerNigel Potts has held Cathedral and Church positions in New Zealand, England and the USA, having accompanied and conducted choirs from daily Choral Evensong to radio broadcast, and from tours to recordings.

Presently the Organist & Choirmaster of Christ & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Manhattan's Upper West Side in New York City, Nigel conducts the eight voice professional choir for weekly services and monthly Choral Evensongs & special services, with repertoire ranging from the Renaissance period through to the present day. In collaboration with Artist-in-Residence Paul Jacobs, Nigel is over-seeing the installation of a brand new Schoenstein organ to be delivered for Easter 2008.

Formerly Organist & Director of Music of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, NY, Nigel Potts has commissioned choral music for his choirs including the anthem Tu es Pétrus by composer British composer Paul Spicer (see Composers page) and both the anthem Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty and the hymn tune Saint Peter’s, Bay Shore (set to Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!) by Richard Webster, Organist & Choirmaster Emeritus of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, Evanston, Illinois. These anthems received their world premières sung by the choirs of St. Peter's, Bay Shore under the direction of their composers, with Nigel playing the organ. Nigel is now the Artist-in-Residence at St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Bay Shore, NY.

From 1990-1992, Nigel Potts was Organ Scholar of Wellington Cathedral of St. Paul (Wellington, New Zealand), followed by a year at each Blackburn and Lichfield Cathedrals in England.

In 2005, Nigel Potts was appointed one of eleven National Examiners for the Royal School of Church Music, America.
