Teaching

Nigel Potts is highly sought-after as a private teacher of organ, piano, theory and musicianship, having taught all age groups from beginners through to a retired New York school superintendent and an Italian Concert Pianist.

His teaching career began at the Darwin School of Music in Lancashire, England in 1992 and continues today, having prepared high school seniors for College/Conservatorium auditions and having taught organ as a secondary instrument to MM students at Yale University.

As an Adjunct Lecturer in Music at Dowling College, New York, he has taught several courses including, Music in Western Civilization, Survey of Symphony, Survey of Instrumental Literature, and Beethoven.

Nigel has presented master-classes & workshops on general organ literature, hymn playing, transcriptions, and on British organ music for the American Guild of Organists (2010 National Convention in Washington DC), the Royal Canadian College of Organists and in Singapore.

He has adjudicated Organ Scholarships Competitions for the American Guild of Organists and is a National Examiner of the Royal School of Church Music, America.
